Journaling Yourself Out of Stressful Living

journaling purpose self-leadership Sep 13, 2021

Feeling stressed out and overwhelmed by life?  I highly encourage you to start journaling yourself out of stressful living!

Investing (not spending/wasting) time into writing will bring the solution you sorely need. By writing about your day (or even a moment), you’re able to step back and gain a better perspective of what’s going on.

Have you ever bemoaned something like this, "Why does life seem like I take one step forward and two steps back?"

I have.

With journaling; however, you can take the 1 step back and transition it into 2 steps forward!

Yep, you can, and here's how:

  • Start by writing about the event itself. What happened? Write down as much detail as possible.
  • Next, write down your thoughts or beliefs you associate with that particular event. What were your thoughts at the time?
  • Last, ask yourself what happened because of those thoughts. How did those thoughts impact your actions?

A little perspective goes a long way in helping to unravel what’s going on, and find the solutions to the problems. Maybe there’s an action you need to take, or perhaps you need to address your emotional response. Whatever the case, writing will get you there.

Your Turn to Write: What’s something you would tell your teenage self that you realize now but didn’t at the time? How do you think it would have changed things if you’d know what you do now?

Do you find yourself procrastinating often on things you believe will help you, but just can't seem to start? I have, for sure, and it's why I created my email series, "Procrastination to Productive!" I invite you to get this series for free by clicking here.
